Waterford Panto Society, a beloved institution and the longest-running traditional Christmas show in Waterford, is proudly celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. To mark this incredible milestone, the Society has launched a brand-new Musical Theatre Bursary to support aspiring and experienced local artists passionate about pursuing or deepening their journey in musical theatre.
Whether you're taking your first steps into the spotlight or looking to build on years of experience, this bursary is designed to help Waterford-based performers take the next leap in their creative career. The initiative is a partnership with the Ted and Mary O’Regan Arts Bursary, known for its long-standing commitment to supporting emerging and established artists in the region.
Chairperson of Waterford Panto Society, Anne Corcoran Brown, shared her excitement:“Over the years, we've seen so many of our members go on to amazing things in theatre. For our 40th year, we wanted to give back in a meaningful way — to support someone starting out, or even someone with experience looking to grow. This bursary is about giving talent a boost, wherever they are on their journey.”
The bursary will be administered by the Ted & Mary O’Regan Arts Bursary Committee, whose Chairperson Bertie Rogers applauded the collaboration:“We’re thrilled to partner with Waterford Panto Society in this landmark year. It’s a wonderful opportunity for local musical theatre artists to gain support and recognition.”
Applications for the bursary are now open, with full details and application forms available at www.waterfordyoutharts.com. The deadline to apply is Friday, May 30th at 5:30pm.
This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape the future of musical theatre in Waterford—whether you're starting small or reaching higher, the stage is yours.
